College of Arts & Sciences

Web Services delivers web-related administrative, instructional and research assistance, and supports the College’s advancement and development activities. College-wide sites are managed centrally from the Dean's Office.   Each administrative unit or department also maintains at least one web site.

Primary responsibilities include; providing the technology and design framework for the College's web sites, consulting with Arts & Sciences units, analyzing and recommending web-based solutions where appropriate, and supporting the College's strategic initiatives. We also manage the College's Online Research Collaboration Areas (ORCAs) program.

Content management is decentralized. If you have a question about content, please refer to the bottom of the relevant page to find the appropriate contact.

Online Research Collaboration Areas

The College supports faculty collaboration on the web as a way to further scholarship, research, interpretive and creative programs.  The ORCAs program assists by providing private, web-based, collaboration areas. ORCAs are usually organized around a central theme, and involve multiple faculty. To learn more about the program, visit the Online Research Collaboration Areas page.

Administration

The College's administrative web sites, including this site, provide policy guidelines and assistance to chairs and administrators. We assist departments by offering customizable web templates and consulting services. Please contact us of you need support.

Instruction

The Catalyst web site provides tools, resources, and support to help teach with new technologies. The Catalyst Toolkit is a set of Web-based tools specifically developed to enhance student learning through collaboration and communication.

The Dean's Office is interested in supporting innovative instructional technology. If you have an instructional technology project that you believe will increase student learning, be of high impact and central to the major, and use resources efficiently, please contact Paul Lepore, Assistant Dean for Educational Programs to discuss funding options.

Research

The Online Research Collaboration Areas program (ORCAs), helps faculty collaborate on the web. We also help make Arts & Sciences research more visible to peers, the university community and the general public. Please see the ORCAs page for more information.
